On the wall of Padua’s Liceo Artistico Statale A. Modigliani high school now stands a large “Modì” tag: not just an affectionate tribute to the school’s name, but the result of an extraordinary encounter between generations, cultures and artistic visions. Protagonist? Cope2, living legend of New York street art, authentic ambassador of Bronx graffiti since 1979, who collaborated with a group of Modigliani students as part of Super Walls 2025.
During the collaboration, the students began working with canister in hand, while Cope2, at the end of their intervention, promised to personally intervene to “finish” the work-a fusion of the master’s instinctive and colorful style and the fresh energy of the young writers.
Parallel to this educational experience, Cope2 also created his own large-scale mural work on another wall of the high school, giving the school a double sign of historical presence and creativity.
The event, experienced as a unique opportunity by the students, was enthusiastically welcomed by school head Giovanna Ferrari, who said:
“We have many young people engaged in street art workshops in agreement with municipalities and the Department of Economics of the University of Padua, as part of a PNRR project. So this event is a valuable opportunity to engage with renowned artists.”
And Cope2, in his usual straightforward tone, left a sincere message for the kids “Always do your best, follow your heart. Don’t worry about what others are doing: art has different styles all over the world. Create your own.”
With this double intervention-one collective together with the students and one personal-Cope2 not only brought its historical signature to Modigliani High School, but also offered a moment of authentic confrontation, artistic maturity and experimentation for the new generation.
